Starr says ‘it was a memorable experience. The competition is a great way to challenge your skills and knowledge.’ She encourages other students to participate next year ‘because even when you don’t think you have a chance to win, the outcome may be surprising. Don’t give up.’
Starr’s ultimate goal is to have her own studio. Her photography interests are in fashion and would one day like to work with a publication.
The 2011 PPA International Print Competition was held June 11th through June 17th. Approximately Thirty of Gwinnett Tech’s Photography students showed up bright and early to volunteer their time. The students worked hard setting up judging rooms and assisting with the sorting of images.
This is the third year PPA has chosen Gwinnett Tech’s Photo Department to host the International Print Competition. It has been an invaluable experience and amazing opportunity for our students to participate in such a great event. For more information on PPA visit their website at www.ppa.com.
