GTC Student Damian AhChing Earns Bronze at SkillsUSA

Gwinnett Technical College’s photography student Damian AhChing made his mark at the National SkillsUSA Championships in June earning a national medal in photography.

The 2009 National SkillsUSA Championships showcase the skills of post-secondary students through hands-on competitions in leadership, health occupations, trades/industry and technical contests.

Damian AhChing, a first year commercial photography student from Grayson, won the bronze medal in photography. In addition to placing third, Damian won the following prizes:
$10,000 scholarship to CDIA Boston University
Nikon D5000
$75 to MAC on Campus
Adobe Software
A MAC White balancing card
A Skooba – Gravity Camera Bag Strap

Damian “recommends the SkillsUSA competition to all Post-secondary students. Being able to represent the state of Georgia in a National competition and bring home the bronze is one of the most amazing feelings ever. I will never forget it. ”
Once Damian graduates from the photography program at Gwinnett Tech, his goal is to utilize his scholarship at The Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University. His ultimate goal is to have his own photography business, where he will be able to do fashion, portraits and travel internationally.
